Privacy Policy

Effective October 3, 2026

Overview

LostLink ("the app") is published by HitScore Labs LLC ("we"). This policy explains what the app collects, where it goes, and the choices you have.

What you share

When you drop a pin, the app uploads its title, note, category, optional photo, the location you chose for it, when it was posted and when it expires, and your nickname. When you send a message, the app encrypts it on your phone, then uploads the encrypted text, the time, your nickname, and identifiers for the pin and the two people in the conversation. When you report something, the app uploads the reason, the pin or person reported, and the reported text, which only our moderators can see.

Your identifier and keys

The app uses an identifier that iCloud creates for this app to tell your pins and messages apart from everyone else's. We don't receive your Apple Account email, name, phone number, or contacts. The app also creates an encryption key for your messages. Its public half is stored in iCloud so other people can write to you. The private half stays in your iCloud Keychain.

Your location

Your device location is used on your phone to center the map, measure distances, and suggest where to place a pin. To find pins near you, the app sends iCloud a location rounded to about 1 km with each search. It isn't stored. Only the location you pick for a pin is saved and shared. Your settings, blocked list, and notifications stay on your phone.

Possible matches

To suggest when a lost item and a found item might be the same, the app compares nearby Lost & Found pins on your phone. Nothing extra is uploaded for this.

Where it's stored and who can see it

Pins, messages, and reports are stored in the app's iCloud database, which Apple runs for us. Pins and nicknames are visible to everyone who uses the app. Messages are end-to-end encrypted, so only you and the other person can read them. We can't, and neither can Apple. iCloud can still see who messaged whom, about which pin, and when.

Photos

You choose which photos to attach. Before a photo is uploaded, the app resizes it and removes embedded details such as GPS tags.

Subscriptions

Apple handles Plus payments. We don't receive your payment details. The app only asks the App Store whether Plus is active.

What we don't do

We don't sell your data, show ads, or use third-party analytics or tracking.

How long it's kept

Pins are shown until they expire, up to 3 days. When your pin expires or you remove it, the app deletes it from iCloud. Messages are kept in iCloud until you delete your data, and your phone removes conversations older than two weeks. Reports and suspensions are kept as long as we need them for moderation.

Your choices

You can remove your pins at any time, block or report other people, and turn off location or notifications in the Settings app. Settings → Delete My Data removes your pins, messages, and message key from iCloud and erases the app's data on your phone.

Children

The app isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update it in the app and change the date above.
